Visualization of Three-Dimensional Form: A discussion of theoretical models

چکیده
Current research in perception, cognition, and human-computer interaction is explored as a source of theories explaining the process by which threedimensional forms are visualized. A number of theoretical models are summarized and compared in an attempt to uncover variables important to future research conducted by the EDG profession. The appropriateness of dynamic versus static imaging techniques to develop a student's visualization abilities becomes a vehicle for applying some of these theoretical models and proposing specific display techniques. a Comparative Theoretical Analysis for a Knitted Loop Model
The theory presented in this paper differs from previous ones in that no arbitrary loop shape is assumed. Rather a strophoid curve, that is similar to knitted fabric Loop shape, has been assumed as the basic mathematical function. Additionally, the theory is improved by adapting buckled elastic rod theory, leading to a new equation from a certain mathematical curve. This loop model is assumed t...
متن کاملTheoretical Formulations for Finite Element Models of Functionally Graded Beams with Piezoelectric Layers
In this paper an overview of functionally graded materials and constitutive relations of electro elasticity for three-dimensional deformable solids is presented, and governing equations of the Bernoulli–Euler and Timoshenko beam theories which account for through-thickness power-law variation of a two-constituent material and piezoelectric layers are developed using the principle of virtua...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Thermal Shock Problem in Magneto-Thermoelastic Orthotropic Medium
The paper is concerned with the study of magneto-thermoelastic interactions in three dimensional thermoelastic medium under the purview of three-phase-lag model of generalized thermoelasticity. The medium under consideration is assumed to be homogeneous orthotropic medium. The fundamental equations of the three-dimensional problem of generalized thermoelasticity are obtained as a vector-matrix ...
متن کاملInvestigation of pore-scale random porous media using lattice boltzmann method
The permeability and tortuosity of pore-scale two and three-dimensional random porous media were calculated using the Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Effects of geometrical parameters of medium on permeability and tortuosity were investigated as well. Two major models of random porous media were reconstructed by computerized tomography method: Randomly distributed rectangular obstacles in a uni...
متن کاملA Novel Toolbox for Generating Realistic Biological Cell Geometries for Electromagnetic Microdosimetry
Researchers in bioelectromagnetics often require realistic tissue, cellular and sub-cellular geometry models for their simulations. However, biological shapes are often extremely irregular, while conventional geometrical modeling tools on the market cannot meet the demand for fast and efficient construction of irregular geometries. We have designed a free, user-friendly tool in MATLAB that comb...
